- perform a return to running assessment to help isolate your areas to focus on
- establish a strengthening program to ease your return to running while lowering your risk of injury

Pelvic Pride joined Brielle Weber from The Womb Room for a PREnatal Yoga Workshop. We will provide pelvic floor education and support to birthing parents on their pregnancy journey with a focus on yoga and movements to keep the body comfortable during pregnancy, build a connection between the brain and pelvic floor, and prepare for delivery.

Pelvic Pride joined Brielle Weber from The Womb Room for a POSTnatal Yoga Workshop. We will provide pelvic floor education and support to birthing parents on their postpartum journey with a focus on yoga and movements to help facilitate recovery, realign the connection between the brain and pelvic floor, and work towards optimal function post delivery.
Dr. Joy joined
Sam Stuart (BirthFit Coach, LCSW-C) of
410 Fitness, along with Carla Paisley (LMSW, Therapist & Doula) and Sarah Dolina (Nutrional Therapy Practitioner) for a Prenatal & Postnatal Fitness Workshop. Together we discussed honoring your body, the importance of community and the best practices in movement for your whole body including your pelvic floor. Dr Joy discussed special considerations during pregnancy as well as return to fitness after delivery (with a focus on both vaginal delivery and cesarean delivery).
Dr. Joy hosted WFH: What A Pain, a free webinar, to discuss the impact of the big shift to working from home as a response to the COVID epidemic. During this presentation we discuss best practices for at how work stations, how to use items around the house to better support your spine, and the least ideal places to work in your house.

March 2021 - Dr. Joy hosted Pelotons & Pelvic Floors, a free webinar, to discuss the impact of stationary bikes on our pelvic floor. During this presentation we discuss bike set up, posture, riding times, and considerations during pregnancy.

Dr. Joy joins Fit4Mom Baltimore City owner Rachel Wagner for a Mom's Night In to answer all those unasked questions after having a baby. Nothing was off limits and there was not such thing as a stupid question. We discussed everything from 'is it normal to leak after having a baby?' to 'why does it still hurt when we have sex?'
It was a safe space to find out more about your body surrounded by moms who have been through the very same thing!

Dr. Joy presented to the physical therapy students of New York Medical College on Gender Inclusive & Trauma Informed Care in Physical Therapy. During this presentations, she provided attendees with ways to make their clinical practice more inclusive from their verbiage and dialogue to intake paperwork, documentation and clinic setting. She also reviewed gender affirming surgical approaches and wrapped up the series with orthopedic considerations for physical therapists in regards to gender diverse patients.
Dr. Joy presented to the physical therapy students of Columbia University on Gender Inclusive & Trauma Informed Care in Physical Therapy. During this presentations, she provided attendees with ways to make their clinical practice more inclusive from their verbiage and dialogue to intake paperwork, documentation and clinic setting. She also reviewed gender affirming surgical approaches and wrapped up the series with orthopedic considerations for physical therapists in regards to gender diverse patients.
Dr. Joy was invited by Dr. James Stuart Ferriss to speak with Gynecologic Oncologist fellows at Johns Hopkins, about the importance of pelvic floor physical therapy in the recovery process after cancer treatment. Dr. Joy was able to discuss the therapy process, what patients should expect from their care, and red flags to watch out for when referring patients to physical therapy clinics.
Dr. Joy led a three part series for the NY Student Special Interest Group on Gender Inclusive & Trauma Informed Care in Physical Therapy. During these presentations, she provided attendees with ways to make their clinical practice more inclusive from their verbiage and dialogue to intake paperwork, documentation and clinic setting. She also reviewed gender affirming surgical approaches and wrapped up the series with orthopedic considerations for physical therapists in regards to gender diverse patients.

Dr. Joy joined Maryland Safe Haven (formerly Baltimore Safe Haven) as a panelist for their Gender Affirming Informational Session featuring various providers from MedStar Health, Chase Brexton, Freestate Justice, and Trans Maryland.
During her talk, Dr. Joy reviewed the importance of pelvic floor physical therapy for those undergoing gender affirming surgeries to ensure successful functional outcomes.
Dr. Joy was invited to be a speaker for the Mid-Atlantic chapter of the American Urology Association "Mid-Atlantic Mondays" series. The panel presented on 'Innovations and Advancements in Treatment of Female Urinary Incontinence' where Dr. Joy was able to present innovation in conservative care from the Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy perspective. This panel was moderated by Dr. Marisa Meyer Clifton of Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Dr. Joy sat down with Mark Goldberg, LCMFT, CST - the founder and creator of ErectionlQ.com and the Erectile Dysfunction Radio Podcast to discuss why the pelvic floor matters for stronger erections. During the episode we discussed the importance of knowing if your muscles are tight versus weak and how that impacts the quality and sustainability of erections.
Dr. Joy was featured in the Belcara Health eNewsletter where she guest wrote an article on The Importance of Pelvic Floor Strengthening for Better Sex.
