Frequently Asked Questions
Who can benefit from pelvic floor therapy?
Everyone can benefit from pelvic floor therapy! At Pelvic Pride we work with patients across the gender spectrum including women, men, genderqueer, gender nonconforming, and nonbinary individuals.
What can I expect during my first pelvic floor therapy appointment?
During your first appointment we will spend some time discussing your symptoms and your story.
Next we will perform our hands on assessment which may or may not include an internal pelvic floor assessment. We will discuss that during your visit and decide what is best for your body.
Then we will do some treatment and review a few things to work on at home to get your recovery started.
At the end of the appointment we will review your findings and what you can expect from ongoing treatment at Pelvic Pride.
Do I have to do an internal exam?
Nope! That is 100% your choice and enthusiastic consent is key at Pelvic Pride!
We will review all assessment options including the benefits and considerations of an internal pelvic exam so that you can make the best choice for your body.
Can pelvic floor therapy help with pelvic pain or painful sex?
Absolutely! Pelvic floor therapy is for way more than pregnant people. We work with patients every day who are experiencing pelvic floor pain or pain with intimacy so you are in the right place.
We also frequently help patients who have had years of pelvic pain get the bottom of the source of their symtpoms. It is never too late to seek help.
