Welcome to Pints & Pelvic Floors: The Podcast. In Episode 13 I review a few reasons you can’t just slap a rainbow flag on your clinic and call yourself inclusive.

Pints & Pelvic Floors: The Podcast - Episode 13: Inclusivity is More Than a Rainbow Flag

Episode 13 Recap:

  • Inclusivity is more than a rainbow flag or an ambivalent “I don’t care who you love, I can treat you.”
  • To be an inclusive clinic you should consider the following:
  • Staff should be trained to communicate appropriately with ALL patients and know how to not misgender, dead name, or use micro aggressions
  • Intake paperwork should have places for pronouns, gender identity, preferred name, and gender neutral terminology as appropriate
  • Gender neutral bathrooms or signage to let patients know they can use whatever bathroom they identify with or feel safe in
  • Inclusivity is not limited to the LGBTQIA+ community, it also means seating for people of all sizes, different anatomies, handouts with people of different skin tones
